Treaty 6 Day, August 23, 2025

Join us outside the Holyrood Community League hall to recognize Treaty 6 Day where we will have a tipi teaching led by Kyle Campiou. All are welcome!
What is Treaty No. 6 Recognition Day? On August 23, 1876, the Plains Cree, Woods Cree, Nakota Sioux, Saulteaux, and Dene people met with Crown representatives at Fort Carlton to enter into Treaty No. 6. The traditional name of Edmonton is amiskwaciwâskahikan, meaning Beaver Hills House, and is located on Treaty No. 6 territory.
